Tooth Bonding

Bonding is a composite filling placed in the teeth. Composites are a solution for restoring tooth decay, making cosmetic improvements, and changing the color of  teeth. Bonding can also reshape teeth. Bonding can lighten some stains, close up minor gaps, and can be used to correct crooked teeth. Bonding will cover any natural flaws applying a thin coating of a plastic material on the front surface of your teeth.  A high-intensity light hardens the plastic, and the surface is finely polished.

Procedure Information
A mild etching solution is applied to the teeth to create very small crevices in the enamel structure of the tooth. These small crevices provide a rough surface permitting a durable resin to bond materials to them. The resin is then placed on the tooth and a high-intensity light cures the resins onto your tooth's surface. Each individual layer of resin hardens in several minutes. When the last coat has been applied to the teeth, the bonded material is then sculpted to fit each tooth and finely polished.

The resin comes in many shades so that it can be matched it to your natural teeth. Typically bonding takes  two hours depending on each particular case.

Procedure Cost
As with all dental procedures, prices vary greatly depending on your location. The cost of dental bonding will also vary with the extent of the bonding process each individual needs. Many dental insurance plans cover some of the cost of the bonding, particularly when it is done for structural reasons. The average cost of cosmetic dental bonding ranges from $350 to $800 per tooth.
